To most Nova Scotians, it may seem like the
revival of the former NewPage Port Hawkesbury paper mill at the Strait of Canso
is all but a fait accompli.
A federal tax ruling is all that stands in
the way of restarting the mill, which has been on “hot idle” for nearly a year.
But the Canada Revenue Agency tax decision
now appears to be a large obstacle in the way of completing the deal.
