The five Mi'kmaq bands in Cape Breton have signed their first forestry agreement with Port Hawkesbury Paper.
The agreement with the new owner of the Point Tupper paper mill gives Crown land harvest quotas to harvesters from the First Nation communities.
Lisa Young, executive director with the Unima'ki Institute for Natural Resources in Eskasoni, said she couldn't put an exact number on how much the quotas could mean for the individual harvesters.
