Domtar Closes on Sale of Port Edwards

Domtar on March 27 closed the sale of certain of its Port Edwards mill assets in Wisconsin to DMI Acquisitions, LLC of Columbus, Ohio.
The sale includes all the remaining assets on the site, but does not include the adjacent hydroelectric facilities on the Wisconsin River that Domtar will continue to own and operate to provide power to its Nekoosa, Wisconsin mill.
Domtar closed the Port Edwards mill in mid-2008. At that time, the mill had the capacity to produce 165,000 tons per year of uncoated freesheet paper and employed about 500 people.
